Hockwold cum Wilton's quiet lanes and older cottage stock hide some seriously weathered chimney stacks — Brandon Roofers provide full rebuilds for properties across this part of the Breckland fen edge.
Hockwold is a small, traditional village where many homes are older flint and red-brick cottages, some dating back to the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Chimneys on these properties were often built with lime mortar and soft handmade bricks that can look reasonable from the ground but are structurally compromised on closer inspection. The flat, open landscape here offers little shelter from prevailing south-westerly winds, which accelerates deterioration at the top of stacks.
We recommend a proper scaffold inspection before assuming repointing will solve the problem — in many cases a full rebuild to at least halfway down the stack is safer and more cost-effective long term. Call us to arrange a free site visit in Hockwold.
